Feeding a Raw Diet For those that feed raw, here is a compiled list of books, websites, etc courtesy of someone else some great websites and books for those wanting to go to BARF diets with their dogs, I will be adding pictures of the food my dogs eat. Since the melamine scare in dry dog food last year some folks have switched to a natural raw diet. my crew has been eating raw for over 2 years now, and their health is proof it does work:

Jesse (December 19 2005)never ever buy a dog from a pet store, no matter how cute and cuddly they seem.. Jesse was hard to housebreak, and the first year of her life we spent over $3000 on her health. She was diagnosed with Hip Displasia at 9 months old, and also has food allergies and air borne allergies as well. She is allergic to wheat, rice, corn, soy, cats, grass, oak trees, chicken and turkey as well. She is on medicine for life for her hip displacia, and is on a holistic diet for her allergies, . If you want a pet go to your local shelter or find a rescue group... Dont support Puppy mills.. as that is where ALL dogs from pet stores come from.. Puppy mills.in PA, Missouri, etc...Here are some videos to watch that show the truth about puppy mills http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_332232251.html
http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-3/113246958215030.xml&coll=1&thispage=1 This is the Star Ledger Newspaper
While Jesse has her health issues, she is a great dog for our home, and is a typical very protective german shepherd when it comes to her home.. She is a typical German Shepherd temperment wise, however she is not pure, as she doesnt fit the typical GSD breed history.. thats what happens when you get a dog from a pet store..no matter what the registration papers say, the dogs are so overbred they are unhealthy and genetically screwed up most of the time. |

Sonny Therapy Dog (July 7, 2005)February 19, 2008, Sonny lost his battle with bone cancer tonight, he went peacefully in our arms.. he left on his terms, and walked out into the sunshine.. RIP Sonny
7/95-2/19/08
Weep not for me though I am gone Into that gentle night Grieve if you will, but not for long Upon my soul's sweet flight. I am at peace, my soul's at rest There is no need for tears. For with your love I was so blessed For all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now all is gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your memory I live on. Remember not my fight for breath Remember not the strife Please do not dwell upon my death, But celebrate my life.
January 31 2008. Sonny was diagnosed tonight with osteosarcoma. its in his lungs already, and both his front legs. the vet is giving him 1-5 months left to live.. he is on pain medication for the pain and meds for the inflamation in his one front left leg..
my Sonny boy is 13 years old..
Happy 10th Birthday Sonny!! Nov 19, 2005- Sonny PASSED his Therapy Dog Test!! he is now a Certified Therapy Dog!!!! Sonny was adopted by my family in October 2001. He was 6 1/2 years old when we adopted him in October 2001. His Birthdate is around July 5th 1995. He appreciates the second chance at life in a home and not in a shelter. Please consider adopting a rescue/shelter dog if you are bringing a dog into your house. They appreciate the chance at life, and are very grateful. Sonny is housebroken, trained, and is a all around happy go lucky dog. Sonny was adopted from the Warwick Valley Humane Society in Warwick NY 48 Public Works Drive, Warwick, NY 10990 ~ P.O. Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990 Phone: (845) 986-2473 Fax: (845) 987-8995 http://www.wvhumane.org/ |
